The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organised Crime and Corruption, from a department for prosecuting organized crime and corruption, established within the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of North Macedonia in 2004, grew in 2007 into a special prosecutor’s office for dealing with cases related to organized crime and corruption in the whole territory of the Republic of North Macedonia. The headquarters of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organised Crime and Corruption are in Skopje. It is held accountable for its work to the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia who oversees the work of this public prosecutor’s office, as well as to the Council of Public Prosecutors.
